At Pitch Black, we believe in the power of leveraging marketing as a tool for positive change, uplifting voices and fostering a sense of pride within the community.


For health sciences client CISCRP, we used a combination of traditional marketing tools and non-traditional ones.We relied heavily on “brand activation,” an immersive marketing strategy that uses events, campaigns and activities to generate brand awareness, boost customer loyalty and build lasting connections with target audiences. Fostering engagement through immersive experiences, presenting the brand as meaningful, memorable and trustworthy and empowered both, the target audience(s) and the CISCRP brand.

Walker-Miller RECESS

Prioritizing authentic storytelling and messaging, ensuring that every campaign reflects the genuine narratives and values of the target audiences are tenets of RECESS, a unique initiative created for energy client Walker-Miller.

  • Pitch Black identified a pivotal opportunity to address Environmental Justice, Public Health, Job Creation, and Economic Opportunities through the lens of clean energy.

  • By developing key narratives that resonated with Black and Brown communities, Pitch Black sought to turn the conversation around clean energy into a comprehensive social and economic dialogue.


  • Our efforts resulted in the conceptualization and execution of the first-of-its-kind RECESS, a national multi-day clean energy conference dedicated to the interests of Black and Brown communities.

  • Development of storytelling strategies that translate complex clean energy concepts into relatable impacts on daily life, jobs, and health.


  • Utilization of cultural insights to design an engaging and relevant summit agenda.

  • Strategic marketing to position RECESS as a groundbreaking event focused on equity in the clean energy sector.

  • Engaging content creation that highlighted the social and economic imperatives of clean energy for Black and Brown communities.


  • Implementation of community-centric programming during RECESS, including workshops, keynote speeches, and panel discussions that directly addressed the community's needs.

  • Successful execution of the inaugural RECESS, with high engagement from community members, national innovators, and thought leaders.

  • Laid groundwork for ongoing dialogue and action within the clean energy sector that prioritizes equity and inclusion.

  • The success of RECESS underlines the effectiveness of targeted, relatable, and inclusive marketing strategies in generating momentum for large-scale, impactful conversations and initiatives.
